4.6 Promotions

Promotions are a set of marketing tactics used to boost your store's visibility, attract more customers, and increase sales. These can include offering several type of discounts, running special deals, advertising campaigns, setting up eye-catching in-store displays (see Chapter 4.2 Media playlist), and even hosting events. All of these aim to create excitement, make your products more appealing, and encourage customers to buy them. Promotions also can help you maintain your stock by clearing out old inventory, introducing new products, and keeping customers coming back for more.

To make things easier to begin, RETAIL7 system comes with some basic promotions which you can configure to your needs and of course, you can always create your own ones. These can be found under the Promotion menu of the Management Console. This menu has two submenus:

  • creating, editing, managing and deleting promotions is possible under the Promotion list menu (for more about this, see chapter 4.6.1 Promotion list).

  • Assigning promotion groups to promotions is possible under the Promotion groups menu (for more about this, see chapter 4.6.2 Promotion groups).

About the rounding rules in RETAIL7

Consistent use of rounding is important for clear pricing, and for promotions, it is also important to regulate it because of the dynamic variation of the totals due to the discount. When configuring a promotion, there is a point where the system needs to know how to behave in case the prices needed to be rounded. RETAIL7 offers several rounding methods, so you can always choose the one which fits best to you.

The RETAIL7 system offers the following rounding options:

  • Do not round

The value is not rounded at all and remains at 12.346 for the calculation, for example.

  • Round up

By choosing this option, the value is always rounded up.

  • Round down

By choosing this option, the value is always rounded down.

  • Half up

Round down from 1-4 and round up from 5-9 for positive amounts.

Round up from 1-5 and round down from 6-9 for negative amounts.

  • Half down

Round down from 1-5 and round up from 6-9 for positive amounts.

Round down from 1-4 and round up from 5-9 for negative amounts.
