According to the German Umsatzsteuergesetz (UStG - Value Added Tax Act) tax rules classify items into three categories: Tax-Free, Default Tax, and Reduced Tax. Each category determines how VAT is applied to a product or service.
For receipt printing, these tax types are assigned specific print codes:
A for Tax-Free (no VAT applied)
B for Default Tax (standard VAT rate)
C for Reduced Tax (lower VAT rate for certain goods like food)
These codes help ensure correct tax calculation and compliance with German tax regulations.
The VAT rate can be viewed in the Management Console under Reports → Transactions. Within each transaction, the applicable tax rate is listed under the Taxes section. This makes it easy to verify at any time whether any changes have been successfully registered by the system.
